Question from Francoise:
Hi, I am 40 years old and will be turning 41 early next year. I am planning to have a baby and with the wear and tear of age, I would like to make sure that I have a healthy child.
I have started taking the Total Balance Women's Premium - I was skimping with 3 but will increase to 6, Omega3 QH Ultra (2 per day). I am also taking the Female Rejuvenator (2 * 2 a day), and have ordered Neuro Natural General. Am I doing enough?
I am not pregnant yet.. also, with a doctor's approval would it be alright to take the Total Balance Unisex and Omega 3/DHA after one gets pregnant? Thank you.
Answer from Warren:
There is no reason why you cannot have a healthy baby at your age if you take care of yourself, which it would seem that you are.
Taking the Total Balance Women’s Premium is good, but you really must take the full dose which is 7 tablets per day. Alternatively go for the standard version at 4 tabs per day. If you are taking the full dose of the Total Balance Women’s Premium, I don’t think that it is necessary to also take the Female Rejuvenator, or if you do only take a half dose.
You could increase the daily dose of the Omega 3/QH Ultra to 3 per day or, if you want to keep costs down, keep the daily dose rate the same at 2 per day and add the basic Omega 3 DHA/Fish Oil also at 1 per day. This will help build up your levels of DHA in your system. When you get pregnant the baby will draw off your DHA supply and this is a factor in post natal depression. If you can keep those levels high you should not have any issues.
As soon as you know you are pregnant you are correct to switch to the Total Balance Unisex at least for the next couple of months. After that you need to get the OK from your Doctor to continue. Most Doctors approve it. If the Doctor has any reservations then refer him/her to the Multi-Xtra which is a good alternative. However, you would still want to take extra Folic Acid irrespective of what you do. The base Omega 3 DHA/Fish Oil is fine to continue taking.
Good luck with your pregnancy. Good to see you doing everything right to ensure the best possible outcome for you and your baby.
